Kerry Sparks grew up in a rainy, rural Oregon town. After spending her formative years building tree forts and swimming in rivers with her two sisters, she made the move to Southern California for some sunshine. During her six years in Los Angeles, Kerry produced a play, published a short story, graduated with honors from California State University, Los Angeles, and ate a lot of delicious food. In 2008 she was very happily lured to New York City to join the Levine Greenberg team.
Kerry is looking for Young Adult and Middle-Grade fiction, both commercial and literary, with the perfect combination of a great hook and solid writing. She tends to shy away from werewolves, zombies, faeries, and the like, but she’ll read anything with a fresh voice and compelling characters. She is particularly keen on contemporary YA, quirky MG, books with a strong cinematic element and she loves to work with debut authors as well as seasoned veterans.
In addition to her passion for words, Kerry has a love for film, road trips, running, and bubble tea. Although she enjoys the luxuries of gargantuan cities she has lived in, Kerry has yet to find a bookstore as impressive as Powell's Books in Portland, Oregon.
